European Community Law

European community law is more commonly known European Union law which is the treaties and legislation, including regulations and directives, which have either a direct or indirect effect on the laws of European Union member states. The three sources of this law are primary law, secondary law and supplimentary law.
Primary law is mainly made up of the treaties establishing the European Union, it also includes the regulations and directives that are based on these treaties. The legislation of the EU is principally made up of the European parlaiment and the council of the European Union, under the treaties this may establish secondary law to pursue the objectives of the treaties.
